Announcing a new Committee: Aging, Disability, & Accessibility! The NoHo Neighborhood Council has always had the goal to make NoHo a more accessible place, and our efforts serve to amplify the voices of our community.
We would like to recognize board member Jen Montzingo for her advocacy in the accessibility space by highlighting a few achievements in conjunction with the Neighborhood Council recently, as well as taking the Chair role for this new Committee.
In September, board member Montzingo hosted a presentation at the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment's Congress of Neighborhoods 2024 called "Creating Advocacy for Disability and Accessibility Within Neighborhood Councils". It was the first of its kind for this event, furthering the conversation of how we can advocate for accessibility within our communities.
At our last Board Meeting, the NoHo Neighborhood Council voted to sign on to a letter requesting that the Mayor establish an LA28 Games Inclusion & Accessibility Taskforce. The city of Los Angeles needs to focus on all attendees and athletes for this pivotal event, including those with disabilities. Read the full letter here.
The NoHo Neighborhood Council also voted to establish an Aging, Disability, & Accessibility Committee to create more focused action in this space. We are excited to see what comes from this Committee in the new year.
